Chapter 2 has four scenarios to solve. Just like the previous chapter, you’ll need to solve a scenario, then you’ll be given an additional piece of information that reveals more. To complete the chapter, you’ll be required to match names, faces, and aliases on the Corkboard before solving the events.

Scenario 1: Garden Retreat

In the garden retreat, there are 9 locations to investigate, with 22 spots and 47 words to collect.

Hints to Solve the Garden Retreat Scenario

  1. To get the details of the overview, you’re looking for a location, date, and what the events resulted in.
  2. To work out the location, use the newspaper in the room and the iron gates.
  3. To find the date, use the voicemails on the answering machine. They all mention a common day. To work out specifically when this is, consider what the woman says about the new dawn.
  4. To work out what happened, look at the fact that there are two wine glasses in the room. Then consider what the woman is doing outside and why the shovel is next to her.
  5. To work out who exactly visited the woman, consider the messages left on the answerphone. Two of them want to exchange something, but only one wants something physical in return. Check out the bonfire as well and examine what is burning. You can work out her identity by using the newspaper.
  6. Look at the top of the room to see what disturbances have taken place. If you examine the safe, you’ll see the artifact is still there. Take a look at the left side of the room and the torn curtain. Where does this lead to?

Solution to the Garden Retreat Scenario

The answers to solving the events to complete the scenario are as follows.

Overview:

The events that took place at Harmony Foundation on August 17, 1974 resulted in someone’s death.

Events:

‘Colleague’ visited ‘Historian’ to exchange an artifact for money.

During the meeting, ‘Colleague’ suddenly tried to rob ‘Historian’.

In response, ‘Historian’ sprayed ‘Colleague’ with hair spray and then pulled a rug.

As a result, ‘Colleague’ fell and hit a rock.

Completing Scenario 1: Garden Retreat

Completing the first scenario will result in a book appearing by the TV screens. Examining the Encyclopedia will give you information about Lazarus Herst and The Golden Idol, now it’s time to tackle Scenario 2.

Scenario 2: Behind Bars

There are 13 locations to explore inside the prison, and 11 to explore outside of the prison, with 50 spots and 43 words to collect.

Hints to Solve the Behind Bars Scenario

Once you’ve explored all locations, you’ll need to solve four different things: Cells, Names, Message, and Events. Because this one is a bit longer, we’ll break down the hints for each section.

Hints for Names

We’d recommend starting with the names and then going from there to work out the cells and events.

  1. There are 8 names to find. You can name the handyman as soon as you get his ID card.
  2. To work out the prisoner names, use the blackboard on the cells, a note inside the central one, and the notice on the corkboard that you can access from outside. The interaction between the guard and prisoners outside will also hint at who are neighbours and give a last name.
  3. The names of the officers can be gathered from the letter on the young officer being shouted at and the graffiti outside. You’ll be able to get the younger officer’s last name from the central cell.

Hints for Cells

  1. You can use the chalkboard in between the cells to match the named prisoners.
  2. The message about the cells running from left to right or right to left will help.
  3. Try to match the prisoner in the central cell who ‘overhead’ something, with the prisoner outside to work out if the cells are left to right or right to left.

Hints for Message:

Once you’ve placed the prisoners and named them, you’ll know the cell you need to investigate.

  1. Read the message on the desk and look at the words that are bold.
  2. The date is given in the message.
  3. Use the drawings on the wall to find the meanings.
  4. Use the corresponding colors with the numbers and find words to describe the pictures.

Hints for Events:

  1. To name the prisoner and why he was behind bars, use the black chalkboard and corkboard.
  2. Use the solution from the message to fill out what he used to get out of his cell and who gave it to him.To find out where he escaped from, go outside and look to the building. Remember where the escaped prisoner’s room was.
  3. You can follow a trail from the cell to the Handyman to piece together where he went next. Check the central cell for clues on who gave him the methods of escaping.
  4. To finish the final paragraph, look at the spikes on the outskirts of the prison. Does the material look familiar? Explore the central cell and you’ll have your answer as to who helped him.

Solution to the Behind Bars Scenario

The answers to solving the names and events to complete the scenario are as follows.

Names:

  • Patrick Kendal
  • Percy Sainsbury
  • Jimmy Beswick
  • Robert Pakenham
  • Jason Kempton
  • Daniel Utley
  • Jeremy Smith
  • Henry Wakefield

Cells:

  • Mystery prisoner
  • Jimmy Beswick
  • John Kempton
  • Daniel Utley
  • Robert Packenham

Message:

The secret message was encoded with: 281973

and could be decoded as: inside flower book spine equals saw.

Events:

Arthur Blythe, who was in prison for murder, got out of his cell through a window, using a saw blade he got from Steven Aria.

He entered the yard via a drainpipe, and breached the fence using wire cutters he got from Percy Sainsbury.

Finally, he climbed over the wall by attaching sheets, which he got from Jimmy Beswick, to the bars from his window.

Completing Scenario 2: Behind Bars

After completing the scenario, a poster will appear. interacting with it will give you more information about the escapee and his connection to the first case.

Hints to Solve the Blockbuster Release Scenario

There’s a lot to solve with this scenario, including the Equipment, Names, Costumes, Dispute, Events I, and Events II. Here are hints for each of these.

Hints to Solve Names:

You’ll need to solve the identities of two of the workers there, and the attendees.

  1. Go through the dialogue and the items on each character. Lots of dialogue gives hints to character names. Some items will also reference names.
  2. Check the costume competition clipboard, where you’ll find full names and hints on costumes and props to look for on characters.
  3. Use the office, the fuse box, and the projector room to work out the identities of the two employees.
  4. To fill in the gaps for characters where you only have their first or last name, use things around them. The car will give you a clue about the driver.
  5. For the missing identity, check the office and who has been banned.

Hints to Solve Costumes:

If you’ve solved the names first, it will make identifying the costumes easier. But if you solve the costumes first, you’ll want to use these hints:

  • Look at the dialogue from the yellow car and the red car, both will make hints about characters and costumes
  • Check the costume competition sheet in the office
  • Use the painting on the wall to find the name of the new character and use deduction to work out which one it is

Hints to Solve Equipment:

  • To solve the first line, consider how everyone is dressed and the competition taking place.
  • Everyone has tickets and there’s a barrier to get out of the drive-in, which should give you a clue as to what the person needs.
  • Check inside the burning car for the remaining answers and consider what happened in the projection room

Hints to Solve Dispute:

The dispute arises when you find the piece of paper talking about Mike and Jenny. To solve here, here are some hints:

  • Look at the dialogue the man has, he explains what Mike and Jenny have between them.
  • Look at the man who has soot on his face and the car on fire. Once you know his identity, you can fill in his name.
  • As for the rest, look at what he’s missing, and what that item says. Where would that item have been used?
  • Remember this is about characters, and not the people dressed up.

Hints to Solve Events I:

There are a lot of gaps in the events, so it can be tricky to work everything out even after you’ve established the Equipment, Names, Costumes, and Dispute. The key to solving this is to look at words that have been left in such as “disguising” and “enhance” and think about what they could be referencing.

  1. The first line mentions the owner, so you can deduce that this is the owner of the screening place. To find the name, look above the building.
  2. Now think about what you saw in the projection room, that might be being used to “enhance” something.
  3. To work out the colour, look at the paint. This will be used to disguise it, so won’t be the original colour.
  4. For the next part, you’ll want to visit the office and take another look at the letter that explains who was being “sent” to the cinema. Consider what happened when this person arrived and what they resulted in.
  5. Lastly, look at the red car, and how the person with the duffel bag “arrived”.
  6. For the final part, to work out how something was disguised, look at both costumes and think about the note from the competition clipboard. What does it reference?

Hints to Solve Events II:

  1. For the first paragraph, consider who pulled something off of someone else. Why did they do it? What did this cause? Check the burning car for more clues and look at what the cars were trying to do.
  2. For the second paragraph, use the screen on the right. What’s not working?
  3. Think about the problem you can see just outside of the manager’s office.

Solution to the Behind Bars Scenario

Names:

  • Andy Lemmons
  • Doug Baxter
  • Beck Mason
  • Mike Lendl
  • Jenny Chen
  • Champ Vincent
  • Augie Tamine
  • Annie Kishimoto
  • Laura Parker
  • Tom Powers
  • Sarah Cunningham

Costumes:

  • Bertrand (robot)
  • Transom (man in blue)
  • Marini (woman in red)
  • Porbo (green alien)

Equipment:

  • Disguise my identity – need a costume.
  • Get in and out of the drive-in – bring enough money.
  • Get the staff out of the way with a distraction – pack wire cutters.
  • They may search people’s bags, so I’ll hide my spoils in plain sight – bring paint.

Dispute:

The bet between Mike and Jenny. Tonight, we will see Bertrand lose his head.

Events:

Sarah Cunningham, owner of the Neptune cinema, had been using a red crystal to enhance the screen. A weird lady sent Augie Tamine to buy it, but he was banned from the cinema.

Augie Tamine arrived in costume and stole the crystal, disguising it as a tooth.

Events II:

In order to win a bet, Jenny Chen pulled the head off Doug Baxter’s costume. This started a fire, so patrons tried to escape.

Hearing the commotion, Sarah Cunningham looked out, saw the screen, and realized somebody must have taken the crystal. She then caused a car crash while attempting to block the exit.

Completing Scenario 3: Behind Bars

Solving this scenario will result in a tape recorder appearing. Interacting with it you’ll see an exchange between a host and interviewee about The Golden Idol.

Scenario 4: Going Once!

There are 11 locations to explore on the auction floor and 7 locations to investigate in the room above. However, there are also two times you can choose from. Swapping to the second clock shows what happened after the auction. There are 11 locations on the auction floor and 4 on the top floor in this timeframe. There are 35 words to collect and 59 spots to search.

Hints to Solve the Going Once! Scenario

In this scenario, you’ll need to work out the Names, Lots, and Events that occurred over the two time settings.

Hints for Names:

  • Some people will appear familiar to you, especially the man in the brown suit. If you remember his name from the prologue, you can fill it in straight away.
  • The host of the Auction can be worked out by the board.
  • The clipboard on the barman will tell you his name, and the security guard’s last name. You can get the first name from a note later on.
  • You’ll need to switch between the two times and look at the cocktails that guests have. Use the cocktail menu and the orders to match names.
  • Look at the items each character has, and use these to work out the silhouettes when the power has gone out.
  • Also look at the money, and the difference between what people started with and what they have later on.

Hints for the Lots:

  • You can work out each of the items from the lot with the words taken from them.
  • When it comes to the buyer, look for familiar items in their possession through night and day
  • Use the list of lots bought to find who got them and compare the money people had before the lights went out
  • There is dialogue that talks about the origin of the lots specifically and where they’ll be returning to (or should’ve been returned to).

Hints for Events:

  • Two people are missing from the later scene, and so are some items. These are crucial clues.
  • People talk openly about the items they lost out on, but you can also see from the lots who took nothing home. Think about who couldn’t afford it and who could but still lost.
  • Look at the lot the killer has in their pocket.
  • To work out who the killer and victim are, think about who would have the lot book and who would receive the note to change the plans.

Solutions for the Going Once! Scenario

Tesa Nevari distracted Erwin Bogart while Robbie Froberg stole their keys.

Nils Wilmington discovered Robbie Froberg stealing the statue upstairs, and a fight ensued. Robbie Froberg pushed Nils Wilmington into a circuit box with a cane, causing instant death.

Solving Scenario 4: Going Once!

Solving the scenario will reveal a phone, where you’ll be able to piece together some more information from the events that have taken place across all scenarios.

Chapter 2 Conclusion and Solutions

With all the scenarios understood you can now work on the corkboard and match everyone’s pictures to their names. It’s key to remember here that people have been using multiple identities throughout this story, so you can repeat pictures and names.

Hints to Solve the Corkboard and Events:

  • For the corkboard, you’ll need far fewer names and faces than you might think.
  • As for solving the story, think about the first scenario as the most recent, and the events before as those that led up to it.

Chapter 2 Solutions:

Corkboard:

  • Historian – Blue-haired Woman with Pink and Blue Glasses – Tessa Nevari
  • Colleague – Bartender at the Auction – Arthur Blythe
  • Escaped Prison – Bartender at the Auction – Arthur Blythe
  • Sent Saw Blade – Blue-haired Woman with Pink and Blue Glasses- Steven Aria
  • Stole Crystal – Bartender at the Auction – Augie Tamine
  • ‘Weird Lady’- Blue-haired Woman with Pink and Blue Glasses- Tesa Nevari

Events:

Tesa Nevari wanted to reassemble the mythical Golden Idol of Lazarus Herst from its parts.

Tesa Nevari arranged Arthur Blythe’s prison escape, because he knew the locations of the parts.

Tesa Nevari and Arthur Blythe worked together to steal all 8 parts.

For the final one, at the auction, Arthur Blythe resorted to murder.

In the end, Arthur Blythe tried to steal the parts from Tesa Nevari, which resulted in Arthur Blythe’s death.
