It’s time to slip on your detective hat again as the Golden Idol series continues with The Rise of the Golden Idol. There are 20 cases to solve in this point-and-click adventure and we’re ready to take you through them all. This walkthrough for the Prologue and Chapter 1: The Curse will tell you where to find all words, the locations to look at, and how to solve each of the scenarios.
Hints are provided for each chapter and scenario before the solution is given. Use the links below to jump to the hints for scenarios or the overall chapter. Prologue Constriction – A Murderous Way Out
Constriction acts as the tutorial scenario in The Rise of the Golden Idol. Here you’ll be guided through how to solve scenarios by dragging the correct words into the available slots.
There are general rules you need to follow to solve each scenario and puzzle. These are:
– Investigate all of the spots in a location to gather the words.
– Drag the words to fill in details. This can include the names of people in the scenario and the events.
– Some locations will have multiple spots to investigate. Click on the exclamation/question marks to full explore them and get all words.
– Remember to consider the colors of words to help you find where they go.
There are 4 locations to investigate, with 9 spots to interact with, and 25 words to collect. 2 locations can be found on the left of the screen by the victim. One is on the wall, by the head of the perpetrator. The final location is the discarded item of clothing in the bottom right corner.

Hints to Solve the Constriction Scenario
- To find the victim’s name, you’ll want to interact with the location closest to him. The name can be found on his shirt.
- To find the killer’s name, interact with the location closest to the victim. Open the paper in the top left corner of this location. This is where you’ll find a list of names as well as door numbers. Part of the number can be seen above the room where the murder is taking place.
- To find the murder weapon, interact with the location on the wall and on the discarded piece of clothing. This is also where you can find out where the murder is taking place.

Chapter 1: The Curse
There are 3 scenarios to solve in Chapter 1: The Curse. Once you’ve gathered the evidence from the 3 scenarios, you’ll be able to solve the story.
Scenario 1: Academic Impact
There are 7 locations to investigate, with 21 spots and 22 words to collect. The locations you’ll be exploring are the car, the two people standing next to the car, the body on the ground, the building in the distance just to the right of the couple, the stairs by the body, and the door at the top of the stairs.

Hints to Solve the Academic Impact Scenario
- To find the name of the man, interact with the woman and look at his ID.
- To find the name of the woman, read the letter she has. Then match the last name to the man with her.
- To find the name of the victim, read the letter on him and interact with the building in the distance.
- Solving the events will need all three names, and then you’ll need to determine the cause of death. Look at the body and take note of his torn shirt cuff. Examine the surrounding environment carefully. See if you can find anything that matches the shirt to give you the cause of death.
Solution to the Academic Impact Scenario
The answers to solving the names and events to complete the scenario are as follows.

Cyril Bagman and Debra Bagman discovered the body of Isaac Nowak, which was there because he fell from the bridge.
Completing Scenario 1: Academic Impact
Once you’ve solved the scenario, a poster will appear to the left of the TV screens. Interacting with it, you’ll see that the Rare Talent Find is paying Brandon Bagman’s tuition fees. This is in exchange for the Bagman’s keeping their side of the arrangement with the mysterious benefactor. With the first scenario concluded, it’s time to move on to Scenario 2.
Scenario 2: Under Construction
There are 11 locations to investigate, with 21 spots and 32 words to collect. The locations include the newsreader, the detective and workman to the left of her, the two workmen to the left of them, the body by the green building, the detective and the pipe in the pit, and the yellow, red, and blue machines.

Hints to Solve the Under Construction Scenario
- You can find the names of the newsreader, the two victims, and both detectives easily. The two detectives will have their names on badges, which you’ll see as you click on them. The newsreader says her name and offers the name of the victim. The second victim has a tag on him to identify him.
- Putting together the names of the workmen is a little bit more difficult. There are four to work out, but one is the victim, who the newsreader will identify. The other three can be worked out by interacting with the two workmen together, the detective with the workman, the letter on the first victim, and clues inside of the machines.
- Once you’ve worked out the names of the workmen, you’ll need to work out what machines they used. Find clues inside the machines, the note on the first victim’s body, and the workman with the detective.
- To work out how the first victim died, examine the pit. You’ll also want to revisit conversations. Particularly those about machines not in operation, so you can piece together who was responsible.

Completing Scenario 2: Under Construction
Solving the scenario of the accident at the construction site that uncovered two bodies, a paper aeroplane will appear. Interacting with this reveals that someone was being encouraged to talk to the commissioner. To understand exactly what’s going on with this chapter, it’s time to move on to the third and final scenario.
Scenario 3: Newsflash
There are 9 locations to explore, 22 spots, and 47 words to find. The locations are the three people standing by the podium outside of the police station, the camera operator, the two detectives next to the camera operator, and two of the windows in the building. One is on the lower level on the left, and the second is on the upper level on the right.

Hints to Solve the Newsflash Scenario
- The two detectives are those from the previous scenario, so you’ll be able to match their names to their badges again.
- To find the police commissioner at the podium’s name, look at the note on the detective on the left. It mentions an office. Go to the window at the top of the building to find the office and the clue that will lead you to the last name.
- To identify the two people stood by the commissioner at the podium, you can use the file on the right of the desk in the office. You can also use the woman and the note she has.
- To work out the cases and reasoning for the conference, use the camera recording the conference. You’ll also need to explore the morgue and case files to identify them.
- To work out who the victim is, look for the distinctive mark on the bodies in the morgue. Then use the case name and the files on the desk in the commissioner’s office to find the cases that are linked.
- To solve the events of the case, use the clues from the Names, Conference, and Victim tab, as well as the note on the woman and the commissioner’s office.
Solution to the Newsflash Scenario
The answers to solving the names and events to complete the scenario are as follows.

During the conference, Sebastian Walsh claimed:

This is a picture of Isaac Nowak, from the case Beetle 4. His body lies on Table B. His death is linked to the Red Curse.
Events:
New Wells Police scheduled a press conference to announce that Isaac Nowak had been a victim of the Red Curse.
Before the conference, Elizabeth Nowak offered Sebastian Walsh a board position and a computer. As a result, during the conference, Sebastian Walsh declared that Isaac Nowak had been the victim of a tragic accident.
Completing Scenario 3: Newsflash
Finishing up this scenario will unlock a flask of blood. Click on this and you’ll see a summary of evidence that shows that Beetle 4 and Cougar 9 had the same affliction. However, neither had any foreign substances present.
As you click away from the flask, a coat rack will appear. Click on the coat to receive notes about the Cougar 9 case, as well as notable witnesses and suspects. It’s now time to piece together everything you’ve learned from the scenarios and wrap up Chapter 1.
Chapter 1 Conclusion and Solution
Hints to Solving Chapter 1: The Curse
- Solving the entire chapter will mean recapping the events that have taken place so far and linking the scenarios together. Remember to use the additional evidence that has appeared around the TV screens.
- For the first two paragraphs, you’ll revisit Scenarios 1 and 2 to fill in the names of the victims. Note that when the first victim is mentioned, it says they were found inside of something.
- You’ll need to use Scenario 3 to name the strange condition, and to fill in paragraphs 3 and 4. Think about who was trying to cover up information, and why.
- For paragraph 4, think about how Scenario 1 and Scenario 3 join together. Use the letter that appeared after completing Scenario 1 and who has been involved in a coverup in Scenario 3.
- Paragraph 5 can be solved by also considering who took a bribe.
- Finally, you’ll want to use the vial of blood to help you finish off the last paragraph.
Chapter 1: The Curse Solution
The answers to solving the names and events to complete the scenario are as follows.
Story I:
During a construction yard accident, the body of Luke Brown was found in a sewage pipe, afflicted by a strange condition the police named the Red Curse.
A few months later, the famous scientist Isaac Nowak was discovered dead by the Bagman couple.
After being contacted by someone, Elizabeth Nowak worried that everyone would think Isaac Nowak had been a drug user.
A few days later, Elizabeth Nowak offered to fund Brandon Bagman’s tuition, in exchange for confidentiality about the fact that Isaac Nowak had been affected by the Red Curse.
Hours before the conference, Sebastian Walsh was offered a similar deal and took it.
However, the laboratory investigation found zero evidence that either Red Curse victim had been a drug user.
Completing Story I will unlock Story II. You’ll want to use the Cougar 9 case notes and check the note inside Isaac Nowak’s office in Scenario 1 to solve the last part of the story.
Story II:
Shortly before his death, Isaac Nowak went to meet someone at the Steelside Warehouse.
A few days later, someone connected to the Steelside warehouse provoked Elizabeth Nowak into bribing Sebastian Walsh, who stopped the investigation into Isaac Nowak’s death.
