If you’re wondering when the 2v8 mode is coming back to Dead by Daylight, you’re in luck. The limited mode that was so well-received in the summer has returned today and will run until November 26th.
The second iteration of this popular mode has received some crucial changes and additions, so here’s everything you need to know.
How 2v8 Mode Works
Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 mode introduced the premise of eight survivors trying to stay alive against two killers. This long-awaited mode was often requested by the community, and when it finally came to fruition, was such a success that it ended up having an extended run.
Maps are bigger to accommodate larger lobbies and there are no hooks. Instead, survivors who are downed are sent to cages. The perks that we’ve all come to love (and hate) are of no use here either. In this mode, it’s all down to the classes you use.
Survivors are still expected to repair generators, but the mode requires 8 to be completed. After being caged, Survivors will unlock abilities and active abilities will charge over time.
New Additions and Changes to Cages and Generators
There are a few changes taking place to both generators and cages in the new iteration of the 2v8 mode, which are:
New to Generators
- Generator repair speeds are reduced by 5% for each generator completed.
- Generator repair speeds are increased by 2.5% for each cage state.
Changes to Cages and Generators
- Survivors are now sent to cages after being picked up by a Killer rather than by stomping.
- When a Survivor is near a caged Survivor, the cage will no longer move even if there is a Killer nearby.
- Survivors perform the unhook action 15% faster while a Killer is nearby.
- Generator auras are only visible to Killers within 64 meters.
- Generators being repaired by 2 or more Survivors are revealed to Killers, regardless of range.
New Maps in 2v8 Mode
The maps in 2v8 mode are tweaked to accommodate more survivors and killers. They’re bigger and feature three exit gates instead of the usual two. Here are the new maps you’ll be able to play on:
- Family Residence
- Dead Dawg Saloon
- Father Campbell’s Chapel
- Rancid Abattoir
- Wrecker’s Yard
Killer Debuts
The first 2v8 mode gave us The Trapper, The Wraith, The Huntress, The Hillbilly, and The Nurse. Now joining them will be:
- The Blight
- The Spirit
- The Deathslinger
Survivor and Killer Classes
All classes have been reworked where you play Survivor and Killer. Killer classes are also no longer linked to a specific Killer. Instead, you can use them for any of the 8 available killers now in 2v8 mode.
Along with these updates, Behaviour Interactive have also made changes to the original 5 killers available in the game mode. You can find the details of all the changes to classes, killers, maps, and generators in the developer update here.
