We’ve finally hit Monster Hunter Wilds release month, but there’s another chance to test the game before it launches on February 28, 2025. Once again, the Open Beta Test 2 will be available to those with a PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and on Steam.
Whether you participated in the first beta or not, here’s everything you need to know. We’ve included details on the times you can start hunting, what’s included this time around, and the rewards you can expect for participating if you purchase the full game.
What Are the Start Times of the MH Wilds Open Beta 2 (OBT2) Tests?
The OBT 2 will run across two weekends in February for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam users.

MH Wilds Open Beta Test Details
The second beta will again allow you to spend hours crafting your hunter in the Character Creation menu, participate in the first mission of the story, and explore the new locale of the Windward Plains.
It’s also worth noting that this OBT 2 build will not feature all the improvements that we’ll see in the full release of the game.
Character Creation
Just like in the first OBT, you’ll be able to choose one of the presets or spend hours fine-tuning your hunter in the Character Creation Menu. If you participated in the first beta test, you’ll be able to carry over your saved data, which includes any characters created.
Once again, you’ll have unlimited Character Edit Vouchers to use, so you can play around with your hunter’s look as much as you want during the test period. This also applies to your Palico, so your hunter and their companion can be ready for the full game, as creation data for both can be transferred over when MH Wilds is released.
Enjoy the Content from the First OBT
If you didn’t get to experience the first open beta test, you won’t miss out. The content from the first OBT will be available, so you can enjoy the first story trial, learn the weapon basics, and hunt a pack of Doshaguma.
Gypceros Hunt
The second beta test does include additional content, however, in the form of a Gypceros Hunt. The Bird Wyvern will be returning to the series, and we’ll get a chance to see how challenging the encounter will be in MH Wilds.
